What Freemius does
Freemius is the merchant of record and handles paid checkout, tax, subscriptions, licenses, Premium downloads, account management, and Premium updates. It does not score checkout traffic or receive Checkout Firewall security events.
Consent and fallback
- Anonymous Free activation and Skip send no request
- An administrator may explicitly connect after reviewing the consent screen
- Site-profile, diagnostic, extension-inventory, and newsletter permissions are disabled
- If the license or service becomes unavailable, the Free engine remains active and existing Premium settings/history are preserved
